OTHER In a remarkable performance, Grello, the 40-year-old captain of RSCA Futsal, led the Belgian futsal team to a convincing 7-2 victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Qualification for the European Championship is almost certain, but for Grello, the match was even more special. Born in Brazil but naturalized as a Belgian citizen, he wore the captain's armband for the first time.

His naturalization has given him a deeper connection to Belgium. “It was incredible to wear the armband. I am now a true Belgian,” said Grello, who considers the recognition to be more than just sporting.

The double confrontation with Bosnia is an opportunity to participate in the European Championship, a prestigious tournament that is uncharted territory for most Belgian players. “It's like the Copa America, the ultimate challenge,” explains Grello, referring to his unfulfilled dream as a Brazilian.

As the team prepares for the return match in Sarajevo, Grello remains level-headed. “It's going to be a heated match. We have to stay calm and play with passion.” Grello also sees himself as a representative of the sport, which is experiencing significant growth in Belgium. For Grello, the upcoming match in Sarajevo will not only be about victory, but also about sending a powerful message: Belgium is ready to prove itself on the international futsal stage.
