OTHER Mario Stroeykens has extended his contract with RSC Anderlecht until 2028. The 21-year-old midfielder, who came up through the Purple & White youth academy, will remain with the club for at least three more seasons.
Negotiations between Stroeykens and Anderlecht have been positive in recent weeks. His previous contract expired at the end of this season, which meant he could have left for free. The new agreement prevents Anderlecht from incurring a financial loss, while Stroeykens has indicated that he did not want to leave the club empty-handed.

Sports director Olivier Renard is pleased with the extension. “Mario is an important player for the team, the club, and the Academy. We want to continue to build on his development together,” he said.
Chairman Marc Coucke also responded enthusiastically on social media: “Thank you for your confidence in the best club in the country, Mario. Here's to many more highlights together!”
After a season full of injuries, Anderlecht hopes that Stroeykens will return to his best form in the coming months and play a key role in Brian Riemer's team.
