Anderlecht earns well-deserved three points

GAMES Anderlecht showcased a strong performance against Mechelen, winning 3-1 at Lotto Park. The home side started energetically, establishing an early lead and went into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. While Mechelen capitalized on their chances, Anderlecht missed several opportunities to extend their lead.

The match began with Anderlecht dominating play, creating multiple scoring chances. Bertaccini opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing a well-placed shot after a setup by Cvetkovic.

However, Mechelen quickly equalized in the 21st minute through Servais, who took advantage of defensive lapses from Angulo. Anderlecht responded immediately, with Cvetkovic netting the second goal just four minutes later, restoring their lead.

Despite their advantage, Anderlecht's defense appeared shaky at times, allowing Mechelen to threaten again before halftime. However, the visitors could not capitalize on their opportunities, and the first half ended with Anderlecht holding a slim lead.

The second half saw a more cautious approach from both teams, with Anderlecht initially lacking the urgency displayed earlier. The game shifted in the 60th minute when Angulo extended the lead to 3-1, skillfully navigating past two defenders to score.

Although Mechelen missed a crucial chance shortly after, Anderlecht managed to control the game and maintain their lead. The match concluded without further scoring opportunities for Mechelen, who struggled to find their footing in the latter stages.
