OTHER Anderlecht teenager Nathan De Cat (17) continues to impress. In the top match against Club Brugge, the young defender once again played a mature game. He completely contained playmaker Hans Vanaken and was therefore one of the key figures in the Purple & White's victory.
"This feels amazing," De Cat said afterward with a broad smile. "We knew how important this victory was, for the team, but certainly also for our supporters."
De Cat still vividly remembers how long it has been since Anderlecht beat Club Brugge at home. "The last time we won at home against Club Brugge was in 2021. Back then, I was still here on the sidelines as a ball boy," he says proudly. "To now be on the pitch myself and help secure the victory is special."
He doesn't have much time to relax, as he left for Qatar. There, he'll join the Belgian U17 squad for the World Cup. "I heard they beat Tunisia and are already guaranteed qualification," De Cat says enthusiastically. "I'm really looking forward to playing."
De Cat will, in principle, only be available for the round of 16 and possibly the round of 16 of the tournament.
