YOUTH The Westhoek region is about to become the scene of a unique event. On December 13 and 14, 2025, the grounds of KVK Westhoek will host the Christmas Truce Tournament, an international U12 tournament organized by the Premier League in collaboration with the local club and Voetbal Vlaanderen. More than just a competition, this annual event is a bridge between remembrance and sport, a living tribute to the famous Christmas Truce of 1914, when British and German soldiers ceased fire. Both sides also played a game of soccer.
Every year, the tournament immerses young players in the context of the First World War. Between matches, the teams visit memorial sites, learn the stories of soldiers who fell at the front, and reflect on the values that football can convey: respect, solidarity, humanity.
Twelve teams are competing in this edition: eight Premier League clubs — five qualified on sporting merit and three selected for their educational programs — and four international guest teams, including RSC Anderlecht. On Saturday, December 13, Anderlecht will play Arsenal, Brighton, Strasbourg, Manchester United, and Derby County in succession.
