The 19-year-old defender is only under contract with Ajax until the end of the season, which means he could leave for free next summer. That makes him an interesting prospect for the Purple & White.
According to Tavolieri, Anderlecht has already contacted Butera's entourage to express its interest. The Brussels club hopes to convince the young defender to return to Neerpede, where he received his youth training in the past. For now, the defender himself remains calm about the interest. Last month, he said he was mainly focused on his sporting development. "I don't think about it too much. I'm focusing on my growth as a player. I now have the opportunity to play a lot, and we'll see what the future brings," he said at the time.
For Ajax, Butera's departure on a free transfer threatens to be a significant loss. The Amsterdam club signed him from Anderlecht in the summer of 2023 for around €1.5 million. If he does leave without a transfer fee, it would mean that Ajax would not receive any financial return on that investment.
