OTHER Anderlecht have now gone seven competitive matches without a win. Since the Second World War that has happened only three times, Het Nieuwsblad found. Once in the 1970s and twice during the period Vincent Kompany was in charge. The last time Anderlecht won a league game was on 13 December; since then there have been three draws and four defeats — seven games without victory in total.
That has only occurred three times since World War II. Those poor runs were also always spread across two seasons. In 2019 Anderlecht finished the play-offs with 2 points from 9. Continue reading The same happened in 2021: head coach Kompany ended the play-offs with six games without a victory and began the following season with two more without a victory. In 1975 the club even went nine matches in a row without winning. To find seven consecutive winless games within a single season you have to go back to the 1930s. In 1936–37 Anderlecht went ten matches without a win. That was not particularly remarkable at the time, since Anderlecht had not yet become a top side.
Since New Year's Day Anderlecht have collected just 2 points from 15 in the league. They are the only club that still haven't managed a win. Antwerp are one point better; Dender and Standard have 4 points from 15. Apart from Standard, Anderlecht also have the worst goal difference of 2026 (–6, compared with –7 for Standard). If we zoom out a little, Anderlecht have 9 points from 30 in the second half of the season. Only La Louvière do worse with 8 from 30. Dender and Zulte Waregem also have 9 from 30, but of those three Anderlecht have the worst goal difference (–9).
