GAMES Nathan De Cat experienced a mixed Bundesliga debut with Hoffenheim on Saturday. The 18-year-old midfielder started on the bench against Cologne and was only brought on after 71 minutes. Shortly after his introduction, Hoffenheim were leading 2-1, but they ultimately went down 3-2. Although his first appearance in Germany did not go as hoped, De Cat remains convinced he made the right move.

Even so, the young Belgian clearly misses his former club Anderlecht. “What do I miss most? Everything. Anderlecht is Anderlecht,” he said. De Cat describes his departure from Brussels as the toughest decision he has made so far. From a sporting perspective, however, he sees his move to Hoffenheim as the right step. “Anderlecht is simply my home. I was loved there, but I think this was the right choice from a sporting point of view.”

Nathan De Cat is also looking forward to the Europa League clash between Hoffenheim and his former club Anderlecht. On December 10, the young midfielder will return to Lotto Park. “I really like that we're going to play Anderlecht. Especially there, at Lotto Park. That's very special for me.” De Cat is likewise optimistic about the Brussels club's European chances. “I definitely wish Anderlecht well. Looking at their draw, I think they can go through.” He also continues to keep a close eye on his former club. “I watch every Anderlecht match. They have a good team and they're doing well. I'm definitely going to watch on Sunday.”
