OTHER Coach Vitor Bruno took full responsibility after the defeat to Union, in an attempt to deflect attention from his players' poor performance. He said, for instance, that his message may not have come across clearly enough. After the match, Bruno went over to the disappointed fans who, once again, were asking for an explanation after another defeat at Union. Bruno apologized and made it clear that the players had given everything they had.

After the game, Bruno and his assistant Gouveia were still in the empty stadium for a long time, talking things through. “I am responsible for this result and I do not want to hide behind any excuse,” Bruno said. The Portuguese coach also refused to cite his team's shorter preparation as an excuse. He did admit, however, that Anderlecht lacked some aggression in their play and showed too much respect for Union. “This is not the end of the world, but if we want to compete at this level, we will not be able to rely on talent alone,” the coach concluded. There is a chance for redemption on Thursday against Kortrijk, and after collecting just three points out of nine, dropping any more points is no longer an option.
