TRANSFERS Anderlecht have halted talks with Gil Vicente regarding a transfer for Santiago Garcia, according to reports in Het Laatste Nieuws and Sudpresse. Negotiations continued late into the night yesterday, but the Portuguese club is sticking to a figure that Anderlecht are unwilling to pay.
For a long time, an offer of 8 million euros plus a percentage of any future transfer fee had been on the table. However, according to Sudpresse, Anderlecht revised its offer yesterday to 6 million euros plus 2 million in potential bonuses. Gil Vicente remained firm on its asking price of 10 million euros.
Anderlecht are now turning their attention to other players. With Roméo Amane, the Purple & Whites are on the verge of signing a new defensive midfielder. For the attacking midfield role, the name of Dejan Zukic (Vojvodina Novi Sad) emerged yesterday as an alternative to Garcia.
