Bruno on transfers: 'See what happens before midnight'

INTERVIEWS Tomorrow, Anderlecht play a rescheduled match against KV Kortrijk, but at coach Vitor Bruno's press conference this afternoon, the focus was mainly on transfer matters. Bruno shed light on new arrivals Oleg Reabciuk and Romeo Amane. He also said he hoped to bring in one more midfielder. According to Bruno, Anderlecht's moves in midfield were no surprise.
The coach had already made it clear to the board that reinforcements were needed. “I told the board we needed extra midfielders. After the departure of Hatenboer, who had already indicated he wanted to continue elsewhere, we were left with just three midfielders: Llansana, Kana and Kalonji,” Bruno said. Romeo Amane was one of the players Anderlecht had been tracking for some time. “Amane was one of the players we had our eye on. The board has done a good job there.”

It would be abnormal if I didn't know him.” Close contact with the sporting management Bruno stressed that he works closely with the people responsible for transfers. “They know my opinion, I know what is going on from them. And then we go for the targets we think are attainable.” Not every desired reinforcement proved attainable, however. Bruno confirmed that Santiago Garcia was among the targets, but that the deal did not materialise. “I know him, but he is not here. So I won't talk about him. He was indeed one of our targets.”
Bruno did not rule out the possibility of another midfielder arriving alongside Amane. “We'll see what happens before midnight.” Reabciuk brings experience With Oleg Reabciuk, Anderlecht have also brought in an experienced defender. Bruno knows the Moldovan left-back from before, although the coach says that was some time ago. “I know him, but it was a long time ago. Over a period of ten years, things change. The player has matured. He has improved. He has an interesting profile.” Reabciuk previously played for clubs including Olympiakos and teams in Russia. According to Bruno, that experience is an important asset. “He knows the pressure that comes with a club like Anderlecht. We are looking for players with the right mentality and experience of winning.” The question is how quickly Reabciuk will be available.
The defender had been without a club since the end of June. “We'll have to see. He did train, but individual training is different from training in a team environment.” Will another defender arrive? At the back as well, the transfer door remains slightly open for now. Bruno could not say whether Anderlecht will bring in an extra central defender. “The transfer market is so volatile. Everything can change in a minute. At the moment I have four central defenders, and Lucas Hey will also be back soon.”
