Danish technical director on the way?

TRANSFERS Newspapers are writing on their websites this morning that Anderlecht is holding talks with Jesper Fredberg. The 41-year-old Fredberg is currently working as sporting director at Viborg. He has to assist Peter Verbeke in the sporting management of the club.

Verbeke's duties are currently far too broad. That he is now sidelined for a while with the effects of a viral infection is a sign of this overload. Fredberg would take over Verbeke's duties as sporting director. Verbeke himself would stay on as CEO. Besides Fredberg, there are others in the picture, but with Fredberg Anderlecht already spoke the most. 

Fredberg has been working as sporting director at Viborg, the number four in the Danish top division, since 2019. Before that, he worked at Aarhus (assistant coach, interim head coach and head of youth training), Omonia Nicosia (head of youth training and head coach) and Panathinaikos (director of soccer).

Het Nieuwsblad unpacks another striking fact about Fredberg. When he was six months into his tenure at Viborg, he presented Bernio Verhagen as a new recruit. Verhagen is a "ghost footballer. As an amateur, he managed to get himself contracts at numerous professional clubs with fancy talk. Fredberg also allowed himself to be caught.
