TRANSFERS Based on reports in Croatian media, Het Laatste Nieuws and Le Soir write this afternoon that Anderlecht want to strengthen with Dion Beljo in January. This 20-year-old striker currently plays for NK Osijek. Recruitment director Dries Belaen is said to have initiated talks.
Beljo scored 15 times, on loan, for Istra 1961 in Croatia's top division last season. That earned him interest from Anderlecht. According to some media, purple-white already offered four million euros for him during the summer, but parent club NK Osijek turned down that offer at the time.
At Osijek, Beljo is continuing the trend this season. He has already scored six times and provided two assists. He also scored once in the cup.
Last weekend, Dries Belaen went to watch Beljo for Anderlecht during the match against Dinamo Zagreb. He also spoke with the Osijek board. According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht wants to attract the striker as early as this winter, but did not yet make an official offer.
Beljo, who is also a Croatian youth international, still has a contract with Osijek until mid-2025. The asking price is said to be €5 million.
