INTERVIEWS With a 20-minute substitution, Islam Slimani made his debut for Anderlecht on Friday. He did not deliver a great performance yet, but the Algerian hopes to be decisive for his new club soon. "I am here to score goals," he echoed afterwards.

Unlike many Deadline Day transfers made by Anderlecht in the past, Slimani did arrive with the necessary match rhythm in his legs. "Conditionally, I am close to my best level," Slimani told reporters after the Ostend match. The striker indicated that he has only trained once and has yet to get to know his teammates, but that he is impatient to play a full match for the first time.

With his experience, Anderlecht is also counting on Slimani to take the team in tow. "We have a good, young squad. I'm going to try to guide them. I want to play with youngsters who want to progress."

Slimani was given a contract at Anderlecht until June. "But if it's up to me, I want to stay longer than those six months."
