U16 win youth tournament of Montaigu

YOUTH Anderlecht's U16 won the prestigious Montaigu youth tournament in France over the Easter weekend. In the final, purple and white beat Lyon after penalty kicks. It was fiftieth edition of the tournament. Anderlecht had also won the first four (1973-1976).


In the final, it was 1-1 after regular playing time. Chike Macayle Van de Ven (pictured) scored for Anderlecht. Goalkeeper Jens Heylen saved a penalty in the first half. On penalties, Stéphane Stassin's boys made it 5-4.

Terry Van de Ven, who scored in the group match against Lyon, is the brother of Chike. Chike signed his first professional contract in October at the age of 15. He has been playing for Anderlecht since 2019. Before that, he was at Westerlo and Genk. Chike is a deep striker with a nose for goals.
