INTERVIEWS Maarten Martens was trained at RSCA from 1992 to 2003, he then took the road to the Netherlands (RKC Waalwijk and AZ Alkmaar) and then Thessaloniki and CS Bruges. He is currently in charge of the U23 of AZ Alkmaar.

He could have started his coaching career at RSC Anderlecht, Jean Kindermans offered him a coaching position at Neerpede but he had to refuse because of travel problems and he started his career at Bruges.

He doesn't know many people in Neerpede anymore but it remains a special club for him. He only played twelve minutes with the first team and then went on loan to the Netherlands. He always keeps up to date with the team's results.

He will not be at AZ Alkmaar next season, he will not extend his contract. He concludes by saying that he still does not have a club for next season and that nothing concrete is in the pipeline for the moment.
