INTERVIEWS While several of his teammates are enjoying some time off, Zeno Debast is preparing for international soccer in June. And he's looking forward to it. "Some extra matches would be good. Sitting at home in the recliner for so long and watching the playoffs on television is not for me."

Yesterday, it became known that Debast is in the pre-selection for the European U21 Championship in June. He tells the media that he thinks he may either play for the A-team or the U21, not both. He would not see the U21 European Championship as a relegation, quite the contrary. "It would be a great opportunity to show me to the outside world," he says.

"I can see both, whether it's with the first team or the U21," Debast said. "I will be ready for both. Representing my country at the U21, I would feel honored." Debast feels that Belgium may go to the U21 European Championship with ambition. "It's all guys I know. Some are my age, others are a little older or a little younger. It's a good mix of good players. I'm looking forward to it."

"Made a lot of progress this season."

Debast also looks back on last season at Anderlecht. "On a personal level, I think it was a positive season. I made a lot of steps and I'm grateful for that. Also for the support from the fans, that helped me a lot. Playing a season with Jan Vertonghen by my side is very instructive, especially defensively."

"As for the team, I can't hide behind anything: that wasn't good. It had to be better. I can now give some excuses why things went wrong, but we have to look to the future. In the preparation we have to give everything."

"A lack of quality? I wouldn't say that. I think we had a good group. Because we played on Thursday and Sunday each time, fatigue set in. Although I'm grateful that I got to play those games. That was good for my rhythm."
