TRANSFERS In its search for a new right-back, Anderlecht has ended up with Heerenveen's Milan van Ewijk. That is what Voetbal International knows. Purple White are said to have already contacted Heerenveen to gather information, but did not yet make an official offer.
Van Ewijk was one of Heerenveen's star players last season. Everyone assumes he will take a step up this summer. Heerenveen director Ferry de Haan confirmed today that a club has applied for Van Ewijk, but did not mention a name. Voetbal International now knows it is Anderlecht.
There is no offer yet, but sources around Heerenveen assume it will come soon. However, Het Nieuwsblad adds that a transfer of Van Ewijk depends on a departure of Amir Murillo.
Van Ewijk came to Heerenveen from ADO Den Haag two years ago. This season, league and cup combined, he played 40 games. Each time from the first to the very last minute. In those, the Amsterdammer scored six times and gave four assists. He is also in the Young Oranje selection for the European U21 Championship.
Besides Anderlecht, PSV are also showing interest. In winter, there was interest from Fulham and Sporting Lisbon.
Van Ewijk still has a contract until mid-2025 with Heerenveen. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €5 million. Director Ferry de Haan told this afternoon that a departure was negotiable. "We know his ambition," he told Voetbal International. "If an opportunity arises that can be good for both him and us, we will seriously consider it."
