Vertonghen out for a longer period

INJURIES According to Het Nieuwsblad, Jan Vertonghen will not only miss tonight's match against Cercle, but Anderlecht will have to miss its captain for some time afterwards. The newspaper speaks of an absence of about five weeks. That would mean that Vertonghen will also not be able to take part in the important duel against Union in January. The need for one (or two) extra central defenders is thus growing.


Vertonghen came down badly after a header in the game against Antwerp. He is expected to join the training camp in Tunisia.
