INTERVIEWS Anderlecht took an early lead against RWDM after a rehearsed number after a corner kick. That is no coincidence. With Yannick Euvrard, purple-white has had a coach since this season who works specifically on stationary phases.

"These are moments we have to take advantage of," Yari Verschaeren, who had a foot in Jan Vertonghen's opening goal, told me after the game against RWDM. "The past few weeks we have worked very hard on this. We have already seen that it gives us a lot of opportunities."

"Stagnant phases have become a weapon for us," adds coach Brian Riemer. "We invested in this by appointing Yannick Euvrard as specific coach last summer. When I worked at Brentford, I recognized how important stationary phases are."

Numerous options are rehearsed during the week, depending on who is playing at the weekend. "The players had to adjust for a while to what we were asking of them. Few have already worked on this specifically. Since we don't have the biggest guys, we look for situations where we can use the qualities of our players the most."
