Anderlecht puts pressure on opponents after victory

GAMES Anderlecht claimed a deserved 2-1 victory over Racing Genk, moving them to the top of the standings. The match saw Anderlecht take the lead with goals from Verschaeren and Dolberg. Despite Genk pulling one back late in the game, Anderlecht held on for the win.
The game started slowly but Anderlecht created some chances, with Dolberg and Sardella coming close. Genk couldn't really endanger Schmeichel although they made some attempts. Short before half time, it was Verschaeren who defeated Genk goalie Vandervoordt with a magnificent shot.
Anderlecht's dominance continued in the second half, with Dolberg adding a second goal after a classy move in the box. Stroeykens came close to a third goal, but his effort ended on the crossbar. Anderlecht kept control easily until, suddenly, Genk managed to score a goal of their own though Tolu. At was the sign for the visitors to go all-in in the last 15 minutes, but Anderlecht's defense held firm despite some dangerous attempts.
The win sees Anderlecht maintain a perfect home record in the playoffs. The Mauves also retake the lead in the ranking.
