TRANSFERS The club so recently announced the arrival of Leander Dendoncker. The midfielder thus returns to the club where his professional career also began. Striking: despite initial reports, Anderlecht did negotiate a purchase option with Aston Villa. How much it amounts to is not yet known.
With Dendoncker, Anderlecht adds length, running ability and strength to its midfield. That way Anderlecht hopes to give the attacking players more oxygen. On top of that, Dendoncker is also a valid option at center back.
The player himself also reacted elated: “This is really my home. I can't wait to see the fans again,” he sounded. Dendoncker is married to one of the daughters of Anderlecht's previous press manager, David Steegen, who still maintains excellent contacts with the club. That reportedly also played an important role in his return.
Still, Fredberg's work does not appear to be at an end. The Dane is still aiming for additional creativity, and with the sale of Arnstad, some extra budget has also become available. So possibly another pawn will follow soon. A goalkeeper and a winger seem to have become less of a priority, but on the last day of the transfer market next week, a lot is possible.
