“Supporters and players deserve respect”

INTERVIEWS Mauves Army was not pleased with the absence of the Standard fans and only entered the stadium after 12 minutes. Their action was not at all liked by either the rest of the supporters or the players, who did not stop at Mauves Army after the game to celebrate the victory.

The moment could not have been more unfortunate either. The absence of away supporters during the Clasico comes as a result of the many disturbances in recent seasons. Just last week against Real Sociedad, “supporters” were making a fuss. To then protest a few days later did not go down well with the rest.

Mauves Army was already treated to a “shame on you” from the rest of the Lotto Park. And the players' group also stopped at applauding and did not stop.
Mario Stroeykens expressed the displeasure best of all.
“If they want away fans back during the game, maybe they should start setting a good example themselves. The other supporters and the player group deserve that respect.”
