INTERVIEWS In his reaction after the game against Anderlecht, AA Gent coach Wouter Vrancken lashed out hard at referee Lothar D'Hondt. Vrancken denounced the two red cards his team received and felt that Colin Coosemans should have been red when the score was 2-0.
In minute forty, Coosemans was a little too confident when playing out. Ei so after he lost the ball to Gent striker Dean, so he briefly grabbed the striker by the jersey. The referee let up.
“There is only one player who deserved to go to the side,” Vrancken said in front of DAZN's microphone after the match. At the press conference afterward, Vrancken said he had gone to referee D'Hondt with laptop footage, but that the referee indicated the pulling error was too slight. “But Colin pulls Max's shirt, because otherwise the goal is open,” Vrancken said.
Vrancken thought the two red cards Gent received were excessive.
“Congratulations to David Hubert for the win and the three points, but the score was determined by things we didn't control: the referees,” Vrancken concluded.
