INTERVIEWS Olivier Renard, technical director of RSC Anderlecht, has emphasized his big ambitions for the club. The Brussels club aims to return to the top of the league. Renard, who lived through Anderlecht's glory days, stressed that working for the club automatically means striving for success. “The quality we show on training and in matches shows that the talent is there,” Renard said in an interview with RTL Sport.
With the winter transfer window approaching, Anderlecht is focusing on specific reinforcements. Renard indicates that there are “one or two priority positions,” but also stresses the importance of homegrown youth. “We have an abundance of talent in our academy. While transfers are necessary, it is crucial to know our young players well and follow developments in Belgium,” he adds.
Amid rumors of possible departures such as Dolberg and Stroeykens, Renard stresses that the team must not be weakened. “We want to strengthen the team and consolidate the base. The club has not instructed me to sell players; if someone leaves, it is only because of an offer that cannot be refused,” he concludes.
