Vertonghen falls out once again

INJURIES Jan Vertonghen, now 37, must again postpone his return due to a new ankle injury he suffered during a training session. The length of his absence is still unclear. Vertonghen last played on Aug. 4, 2024, and previously suffered from a persistent Achilles tendon problem that kept him on the sidelines for months. Meanwhile, he was fit enough again, but playing was not yet in the cards.

Vertonghen is now said to have a left ankle injury, but the severity has not yet been determined. The injury is unrelated to his previous complaints.

It seems certain that the defender will not play at the end of this week either. Meanwhile, Zanka is also set to leave and so Purple White are facing a defensive problem.
