Vertonghen: defender walks on crutches

INJURIES Het Nieuwsblad knows more about the injury Jan Vertonghen suffered at training yesterday. The newspaper reports that he knocked over his ankle in an innocuous action. He is currently walking on crutches. It remains to be seen if his ligaments were hit.

So the severity of the injury remains to be seen. Anderlecht announced earlier this afternoon that this injury is unrelated to the problems with the Achilles tendon he has been having the past few months.

The newspapers are already assuming an absence of several weeks.
