TRANSFERS As the transfer market opens, speculation intensifies around potential player movements. Notably, transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that Anderlecht is interested in acquiring Siebe Van der Heyden. The 26-year-old left-footed defender, who stands at 1.85m tall, was sold by Union to Mallorca in 2023 for approximately €4 million. However, his time in Spain has been limited, with only 96 minutes of play in La Liga this season.
Despite his lack of playing time, Van der Heyden has expressed contentment in Mallorca but has recently indicated a willingness to return to Belgium, particularly to Anderlecht, where he previously played in the youth ranks.
His familiarity with the Belgian league and experience at the highest level make him a fitting candidate for Anderlecht's needs, especially in the left center-back position. While concerns remain about his immediate availability due to his limited minutes in Spain, Anderlecht could temporarily adjust their lineup, potentially utilizing Leander Dendoncker in central defense and anticipating Jan Vertonghen's return within a month. This strategy would afford Van der Heyden the necessary time to acclimate to the team should a transfer materialize.
