OTHER The court case surrounding Marc Coucke's takeover of RSC Anderlecht in 2017 is getting closer. The indictment chamber has referred Herman Van Holsbeeck, Christophe Henrotay and former general manager Jo Van Biesbroeck to court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, where the process will be further shaped. Van Holsbeeck, who is determined to tell his story, hopes this will end seven difficult years for him and his family.

Van Holsbeeck believes the complaints by Coucke and Anderlecht are mainly aimed at avoiding a severance payment of more than a million euros, which he has still not received. He cannot receive this amount until the criminal proceedings are completed.

In addition to the match-fixing and Anderlecht sale allegations, Van Holsbeeck is also named in other investigations, including those into the transfers of Chancel Mbemba and Aleksandar Mitrovic to Newcastle.

Van Holsbeeck's defense, represented by lawyers Daniel Spreutels and Alexandre Wilmotte, argues that the various cases should be bundled together, as they are partly intertwined.

The defense sticks to their line: Van Holsbeeck has always defended Anderlecht's interests and refuses to plead guilty in the Propere Handen affair, in which numerous agreements were made.

After the preliminary hearing, the actual trial may not take place until late 2025 or early 2026.
