
GAMES Anderlecht's quest for the Belgian Cup ended in disappointment as they succumbed to Club Bruges with a final score of 2-1. Despite a strong performance, Anderlecht was caught off guard twice by swift counterattacks from their opponents. The match began with Anderlecht's Jan Vertonghen starting on the bench, and they were fortunate in the opening minute when Bruges' Jutgla missed a clear chance. Although Bruges started strong, their limited opportunities were easily handled by goalkeeper Coosemans.
Anderlecht gradually found their footing, with Edozie standing out, but they could only muster a series of corner kicks without converting any into goals. As the first half neared its conclusion, N'Diaye's defensive lapse allowed Bruges' Vermant to score from a well-placed cross, leaving Anderlecht trailing 1-0 at halftime.
