GAMES Thorgan Hazard saw strong moments from both Anderlecht and Club Brugge in the cup final, but he admitted Club Brugge was more effective in front of goal than Anderlecht. “That was the most important factor in this match,” he said. Continue reading Besnik Hasi also acknowledged that Club Brugge was more effective in front of goal, but also saw a positive development in his team's play compared to previous games. “I chose not to field Jan Vertonghen who just returned from injury. I think that was a wise choice,” he added.
Hasi was, however, furious about the denied penalty after Vanaken's obvious hands. “The referees confirmed to me that they had assessed the situation with VAR and decided not to award a penalty kick. We did think it was penalty,” he was adamant. As for his future at the club, Hasi says he is not concerned with that at the moment, “My priority is to stabilize the team, a goal I think I have achieved. I am not making any further demands or deadlines to the board about a decision for an extended stay. Now it is especially important for the team to get over the disappointment of this defeat and prepare for the next game against Union. There is a lot of talent within this group. We want to be competitive with the top three,” he concluded.
