GAMES After a good season and play-offs that ended with a perfect record, Anderlecht's U14s travelled to the Netherlands this weekend for the Roosendaal tournament. For this tough annual event, which is their penultimate duty before closing their season with a competition in Tangiers, the mauves put in a solid tournament, winning their first 7 matches to reach the semi-finals. Unfortunately, they stalled a little towards the end, losing twice to drop back to 4th place.
Having won all 5 of their first-round matches on Saturday, the U14s finished top of their group ahead of strong teams such as Bayer Leverkusen and AZ, who are regular first-place finishers in international tournaments.

Continue reading They did it again on Sunday, beating Racing Genk and above all Ajax to finish first in the second phase and qualify for the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the reunion with AZ this time went in the Dutch favour, and they went on to win the grand final. After a long tournament, the U14s once again suffered defeat in the consolation final against Racing Genk. Having won their first 7 matches, conceding just one goal to 9 scored, they stalled a little towards the end, with two defeats without finding the net.
Although they didn't make it all the way to the final, Haegeman's team (pictured) nevertheless put in a fine tournament and lived up to Neerpede's reputation. Congratulations to the players and staff for a fine weekend.
