West Ham inquires about Stroeykens

TRANSFERS The chances seem to be growing that Stroeykens will leave Anderlecht. West Ham currently have the best papers on the young Anderlecht player's arrival. They see him as a replacement for Lucas Paqueta. Paqueta, who is in the final weeks of a match-fixing trial, could potentially face a lifetime suspension if found guilty. If he is acquitted, a sale to a Brazilian team seems most likely. West Ham is struggling with a lack of creativity and wants to find a replacement for Paqueta quickly.


The 20-year-old Stroeykens is entering the final year of his contract and Anderlecht is faced with the choice of selling now or losing him for free. The club made him a new proposal but Stroeykens seems reluctant to accept.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Stroeykens is an interesting option for West Ham, with an expected price of around £10 million. He is described as a player with a style of play similar to Paqueta's. More voices in England do call for Stroeykens' arrival. Most analysts see him as a one-to-one replacement for Paqueta.

West Ham should have absolutely no problem with the aforementioned asking price. The Hammers plan to raise around 100 million pounds mainly through the sale of a number of players. 10 million pounds (12 million euros) is thus a relatively small investment for the Londoners, especially for a talent from the Anderlecht school. In England, of course, one is not unfamiliar with names like Tielemans, Kompany, Lukaku and Dendoncker as examples.... The Hammers are even said to have already inquired about Stroeykens' availability.
