OTHER Charly Musonda Jr. is quitting football at the age of 28. Musonda Jr. was considered a top Anderlecht talent for years, but left Anderlecht for Chelsea at the age of 15. Due to numerous serious injuries, he barely played 45 games at the highest level.

Musonda is one of the sons of former Anderlecht player Charly Musonda. Anderlecht had big plans for Charly Jr. until the pounds from London lured the family to Chelsea. Other big clubs then also lined up to acquire Musonda. Musonda was known as a great talent but could barely show it. Thus, he barely played 45 games at the highest level. Indeed, like his father, he was highly injury prone. At Chelsea he could not break through, which is not unusual, but also during loan spells he could hardly show anything at Celtic and Vitesse. Only in Spain at Betis Sevilla did he briefly show why he was so highly regarded.

At Vitesse, he suffered a serious knee injury that doctors said would end his career. However, Musonda recovered and returned to Chelsea's pledges. He then left the London club and played briefly with Levante in Spain before signing a final contract with Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus. There, his contract was terminated in September 2024, leaving Musonda without a club for almost a year now. Musonda announced his farewell on a podcast.
