GAMES Anderlecht won with 1-0 against Dender in a friendly. The goal was scored late in the first half by Dolberg from the penalty spot. Anderlecht played solidly before halftime, but after the break, Dender took control of the match.
Anderlecht was mainly in control in the first half. They struggled to create chances due to, among other things, a lack of movement up front. Angulo and Verschaeren couldn't convert two chances effectively. In the 40th minute, the ball went to the penalty spot after a foul on Maamar. Dolberg finished the job.

Continue reading Dender had a few minor threats before halftime. Kikkenborg's passing was more dangerous in those cases. The goalkeeper still occasionally plays players centrally who aren't free.
After the break, Hazard and Tajaouart came on for Stroeykens and Angulo.
In the 49th minute, the Purple & White squandered an opportunity. After a good steal, they took far too long to finish. A little later, a step-over from Dolberg just missed the target.
Dender then came back into the game. A free kick was just missed, as was a low cross that found no one at Anderlecht's far post. In the 66th minute, Dender hit the post after Dolberg lost possession too easily. A weak clearance from Verschaeren led to another chance. Anderlecht were forced to succumb to the game and were barely able to create anything offensively. Fifteen minutes before the end, Llansana fired a Hazard corner over the bar.
Dender's chances were also over, and a penalty before halftime decided this rather unmemorable match.
