Smolcic as defensive reinforcement

TRANSFERS According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Hrvoje Smolcic (24) would be on his way to Anderlecht. Smolcic joins from Frankfurt and, as a left-footed player, fits the profile Anderlecht is currently seeking.


Smolcic played on loan at LASK Linz last season, where he was mostly a starter. Frankfurt signed the defender from Rijeka in 2022 for €2.5 million. In his first season, he played fourteen matches but missed the final part of the season due to an injury. In his second season, he was mainly a substitute and was therefore loaned to the Austrians.

Smolcic could therefore become the more experienced defender Anderlecht is looking for. A verbal agreement has reportedly already been reached.
