INTERVIEWS Hein Vanhaezebrouck, former coach of RSC Anderlecht, has shared his vision for the upcoming Jupiler Pro League football season. In an extended analysis for Het Nieuwsblad, he discusses the transfers of the various teams and assesses the first (friendly) matches. He is critical of Anderlecht's transfer strategy. He notes that the defensive problems persist, particularly due to Simic's poor performance with the ball.

"Although Hey is technically better, he lacks defensive strength. Camara's injury further complicates the situation," he says.

In attack, Vanhaezebrouck still sees Dolberg isolated, although efforts are being made to improve the dynamics in midfield: "Llansana and Saliba have potential, but the lack of leadership worries me," he says.

The presence of staff members like Biglia and Proto does offer some hope, but Vanhaezebrouck emphasizes that true leaders on the pitch are crucial for creating team dynamics. Just like last season, he questions whether the 4-3-3 formation is the right choice, given the reliance on Dolberg in attack. Vanhaezebrouck prefers a system with two attackers, but without Vazquez as a second striker.

Vanhaezebrouck warns against excessive expectations. He argues that Anderlecht should aim for fourth place and a strong European campaign. Every additional win would be a bonus for the club.
