Official: Defender Özcan on loan

TRANSFERS The 19-year-old Turkish central defender Yasin Özcan has joined RSC Anderlecht on loan for one season, with a purchase option. Özcan joins from Aston Villa and previously played for Kasımpaşa, where he made his breakthrough at a young age. He is also a Turkish international.


The transfer was already in the works yesterday, and Anderlecht moved quickly to acquire the player, possibly also prompted by the elimination against Häcken. Olivier Renard emphasizes that Özcan fits the profile they are looking for: a left-footed central defender who can also play at left back.

Özcan is 1.85m tall and comes from Istanbul. Aston Villa signed the young defender this summer, but in Birmingham, he didn't have many opportunities to truly play for the first team. In Turkey, he played around 90 top-flight matches. His market value is €7.5 million.
