1B - OTHER Majeed Ashimeru (28) is back in action, albeit in the shadows. The Ghanaian, who was dropped from Anderlecht's first team last summer, has been playing for RSCA Futures in 1B since the beginning of December. He even scored against Kortrijk. “This situation frustrates me, but it also motivates me,” says Ashimeru, who was out of action for six months.
A return to the first team remains unlikely at the Purple & White. Injuries and a limited impact have jeopardized his career, despite a contract until 2027. Anderlecht sees his appearances at the Futures mainly as a showcase for the winter transfer window. Ashimeru himself is not ruling anything out: “I love this club, but everything can change quickly.”
With the World Cup coming up next summer, the 12-time international knows that playing time is crucial. “Making it to the World Cup by playing in 1B? That will be difficult,” he acknowledges. “But I'll keep working. We'll see where I am in June.”
