OTHER Vítor Bruno's first day as Anderlecht head coach made it immediately clear what he stands for. The Portuguese coach wants to create a professional working environment in which discipline and responsibility are central. During the first training session, it stood out that all players stepped onto the pitch with their socks pulled up and wearing shin guards. According to Bruno, that is not a minor detail, but a matter of course.
He expects his players to make the right decisions themselves, without him having to constantly steer them. Still, the new coach does not want to be known as an authoritarian trainer. He stresses that open communication is essential within his squad. Difficult decisions, such as benchings or places in the stands, will be inevitable, but he wants to be honest about them at all times. Bruno believes there is a strong foundation in the current squad. He describes the first introduction as promising, although he realises the real challenges will only come when results come under pressure.
