n the Challenger Pro League, there is no permanent VAR team. Each side has two video challenges, allowing the referee to review a decisive moment (goal confirmation, penalty, red card, etc.): Football Video Support (FVS). If the challenge does not change the decision, the club loses it for the rest of the match; if the referee upholds the challenge, it is retained. There is therefore no VAR intervening on its own — the coaches decide. Each coach gets 2 video challenges per league match. Only the coach can request a review. - Only for goals, penalties, red cards and mistaken identity. - The referee always makes the final decision.
What is Football Video Support? Football Video Support is a review system that allows referees to rewatch match-defining incidents. Unlike VAR, the system does not intervene automatically. Only the head coach can request a review. That is possible in four types of incidents: - goals; - penalty situations; - direct red cards; - a card shown to the wrong player.
