YOUTH Anderlecht are fully committed to their own youth this season. At the moment, no less than 11 players from their own youth are part of the first team, including Leander Dendoncker and Sven Kums. Youth Coordinator Jean Kindermans is naturally delighted: "I feel a lot of willingness from the new bosses. What Coucke is doing here, that requires courage."

Jean Kindermans is not only grateful to the chairman, coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck also gets praise. "The head coach plays a crucial role, and without his cooperation something like that can not work." The fans also play an important role. Every week a banner is unfurled with the slogan "In Youth We Trust". "This reminds us that we are doing a good job." says Kindermans.

Players who break through at RSC Anderlecht are more likely to succeed abroad than players who leave at a very young age. In the end there is only one of the early departures who succeeded in his plan, Adnan Januzaj. Kindermans also sees this: "I can present the doubters our lists: the list with nice stories via Anderlecht is long, the list with the disappointments across the borders is much longer."

For Kindermans Bornauw and Saelemaekers are proof that this approach works. "The two were never regarded as top talents in Anderlecht, but they surprise us in a positive way, and they do a great job."
