Owusu punishes slack Anderlecht

GAMES Anderlecht lost points for the second time this season. Against Antwerp, the Purple & White started very strong, but only Pieter Gerkens could score. After half an hour, and certainly after the break, Anderlecht collapsed. In the added time this was punished by William Owusu.


Anderlecht started with newcomer Lawrence in the starting eleven and Sanneh on the bench. Vanhaezebrouck posted Najar in the defense and Bakkali on the left wing. Opponent Antwerp started with an extra defender.

Anderlecht immediately took control and especially Saelemaekers felt really good. He was outstanding and let the audience enjoy his actions. With a measured cross, he put the 1-0 on the head of Gerkens. Antwerp did not appear in the play and was happy that it took only one goal. When the game was paused for half an hour for an injury treatment for Bolat, Anderlecht's engine stalled.
 
The visitors came out of the locker room with fresh energy and didn't leave Anderlecht come in their play. In fact, Antwerp took over command, but this did not lead to chances. A shot from Hairemans could not beat Didillon. On the other side, Bakkali got the chance to score the 2-0, but he decided to take a slap shot on Bolat. And that was punished: in the extra time Owusu headed the 1-1.
