OTHER According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Kompany wants to play with a serious surprise, namely the recovery of Anthony Vanden Borre (31). The former Purple & White player is currently a free player, so Anderlecht is not in a hurry.

The very first early contacts would have been made between Kompany and Vanden Borre. Not everyone in the boardroom would be in favor of a third return from Vanden Borre. Vanden Borre made his debut at Anderlecht at the age of 16, a few months after Kompany also joined the team. In the summer of 2007 he left for Fiorentina. After a passage at Genk, he was given a second chance at Anderlecht by former manager Herman Van Holsbeeck. Vanden Borre seized that opportunity and again became Red Devil, so he went to Brazil to the World Cup (2014).

After that, his level fell again and after an unsuccessful passage of several months at the Congolese top club TP Mazembe, Vanden Borre regularly stays in Dubai. There he found shelter in the training center of his former teammate at Anderlecht Christian Wilhelmsson, where he would work on his fitness. It would be Wilhelmsson who got the ball rolling for a possible return. In April 2018, Vanden Borre was still testing at Cercle Brugge, but then he left anything but a fit impression.

Vanden Borre could offer experience on the back right. He would like to show himself to the public in Belgium one last time. A fit and motivated Vanden Borre certainly offers added value at Anderlecht.
