OTHER Nicolas Frutos is about to return to Anderlecht. The Purple & White is currently negotiating with his former player and trainer for a position as assistant of Frank Vercauteren. With Jonas De Roeck, there is currently only one assistant trainer at the first team.

After the departure of Simon Davies and Pär Zetterberg and the transfer of Floribert Ngalula to the U21, Vercauteren has only one assistant with De Roeck. Frutos must become number two. At the beginning of this year Frutos did an internship at Anderlecht, where he impressed the duo Kompany - Vercauteren. Negotiations took place last night and discussions were constructive, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

For Frutos it would be his third passage at Anderlecht. Between 2005 and 2010 Frutos scored 52 goals in 94 games for Anderlecht. A knee injury then forced him to stop playing football. In 2016, the Argentinian returned as a coach of the U21. The following year he became assistant at the first team and after the resignation of René Weiler he got four matches as head coach in September 2017. When Hein Vanhaezebrouck came, Frutos had to leave.
