Anderlecht wants Govea for Gerkens

TRANSFERS Now that Amir Gigovic (Helsingborg) is too expensive, Anderlecht is targeting other defensive midfielders. Peter Verbeke, head of Sports, ended with Omar Govea from Zulte Waregem. According Het Nieuwsblad, he even suggested to Essevee an exchange with Pieter Gerkens.

Mexican Govea, now 24, made an impression on Mouscron three seasons ago. Then he entered the scene at Anderlecht, among others. A year in Antwerp was not really a success, but last season at Zulte Waregem, Govea returned to his best form. Competition and cup combined, he scored five times in 24 games and gave two assists.

Govea has a two years contract with Zulte Waregem with the option of a third party. So Anderlecht is looking for solutions to get him as cheap as possible. Including Gerkens in the deal is an option. The 24 years old, Limburger, wants to play more and Anderlecht is not reluctant to let him go. Gerken's salary (500,000 euro per year) can be an obstacle for Zulte Waregem.
