Bakkali: "I understand that people have doubts"

INTERVIEWS Zakaria Bakkali was presented to the press yesterday at Beerschot. Bakkali was positive and showed great enthusiasm. "I haven't had an easy period at Anderlecht", he looks back. "But conditionally I'm fine."


Bakkali came into action at Anderlecht barely twice this season. Since the beginning of December he was not even allowed to train with the first team. "Training every day knowing you won't be playing in the weekend is not easy. Still I was on the field every day," he says. A departure this winter was a must. "I had several options, but Beerschot was the best in the end. I was never afraid that no solution would come."

Many see Beerschot as Bakkali's last chance, but he himself sees it differently. "I just see it as an opportunity. I understand that people have doubts. I'm still only 25 and don't want to think too much about the past. Conditionally I'm okay, because I trained every day. I just miss match rhythm. "
