Dewaele is training again after a hip injury

INJURIES In recent weeks, Sieben Dewaele was missing from the match sheet at Heerenveen, but now we also know why. He was struggling with an injury to the hip. In the meantime he has resumed training.


"Sieben has played for a long time while he already had hip complaints," says Heerenveen coach Johnny Janssen. "But now he's coming back." It is still unclear when Dewaele is ready to play matches.

For New Year, Dewaele only collected 172 playing minutes. Heerenveen took three extra midfielders in January, including former Ajax players Lasse Schöne and Siem de Jong. It will not be obvious for Dewaele to remove them from the team.

"The competition has increased, also for Sieben. It is up to him to raise his level", says Janssen. Schöne in particular is a direct competitor. "That is indeed someone who plays on his position, but from whom he can also learn a lot."
