TRANSFERS Het Nieuwsblad writes this morning that Anderlecht is showing more than usual interest in Evann Guessand, a 19-year-old French striker. Guessand was loaned to Lausanne by OGC Nice last season. In the Swiss first division, he scored seven times and gave five assists.
Anderlecht is scanning the market and Guessand was examined in detail. Guessand's contract with Nice expired at the end of this month, but according to Het Nieuwsblad, the club has raised an option to extend it for an extra year. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at 1.5 million euros. Newcastle and Southampton are also said to be interested in the French youth international.
Anderlecht do not see Guessand as the replacement for Lukas Nmecha, but as a young striker with potential who still needs to develop further. If it attracts Guessand, an extra striker will come anyway.
