INTERVIEWS The past two summers Anderlecht sold Jérémy Doku and Albert Sambi Lokonga to collect much needed finances. With the capital increase, such things are no longer necessary, says chairman Wouter Vandenhaute. A transfer of Sergio Gomez is therefore not a must, but can also not to be ruled out.

Contrary to the past two summers, Anderlecht will not necessarily have to sell a player to survive next summer. So a sale of Gomez is not a must, which does not mean that he will stay. "Of course, that also depends on the player and his entourage," says Vandenhaute. "But if we can raise the bar on a sports level, we can better convince players to stay. Suppose we were to play Champions League next year, then we would have a strong argument to convince Gomez to stay another year."

Gomez has very consciously chosen to take a step back and then jump on. We consciously scout for that. We look hard for such profiles. Raman also chose to return to Belgium, while I am convinced that he still has ambitions abroad.
